KICKS U16
midfielder makes waves in Costa Rica with Region III

KICKS U16 Black center-midfielder
Steven Oliveri recently returned home from what he
called "one of the greatest soccer trips of his life".
Steven, who is a member of the USYSA ODP Region III team
and US National Team Pool spent the past week in Costa
Rica playing and training against some of the countries
youth professional teams and players. While not allowing
the results of the games to affect him, Oliveri
maintained his focus and received several nods from
coaches and staff members while in Costa Rica. Last
November Steven along with fellow KICKS Black teammate
William Suedois had the opportunity to have an
invitational trial with French Ligue 1 Racing Club de
Lens. William is slated to return in March and Steven
for a second trial in the spring. European competition
is nothing new to Oliveri, who has already attended
youth games against EHC Hoenbrocek, FC Kerkade West, OWU
Waubach, RKTSV Wilhemnia, and Bundisliga’s Bayer 04
Leverkusen 9 (U17 European Champions). As they prepare
for their return to Europe, Steven and William have been
putting in extra time to work one-on-one with KICKS
trainers Walter Yoder, Drew Helm, Jim Sotter and Eric
Arbuzow. They have been pushed hard by the training
staff to mentally and physically prepare themselves for
the professional game. Along with several teammates
including Jeffrey Michaud, another member of the US
National Team Pool, these boys have also had the support
and encouragement of those who share the same mentality
and passion, truly making their trainings worthwhile. We
wish these young men the best of luck in the future and
will always hold a place for them in our club. Good luck
boys!
KICKS U9 and U10
Girls are Treasure Coast Soccer League CHAMPIONS!!!

KICKS U14
Boys cruise through Wellington Shootout, 7-1 Final

The KICKS U14 Boys finished the
Wellington Shootout as Champions after routing
Wellington U14 boys 7-1 in the finals. They were
able to beat Okeeheelee and Weston before tying
Renegades, enough to win the group. They scored a
total of 17 goals in 4 games and allowed 3. The U14
boys are coached by Kyle Gero.
KICKS U16
Black win Tampa Bay Sun Bowl

The KICKS U16 Black team coached
by Jim Sotter, Fernando Miranda, and Eric Arbuzow
won the prestigious Tampa Bay Sun Bowl over the
holidays. The boys dominated their preliminary
bracket winning 6-0, 5-1, and 3-0 before facing a
tough North Carolina JSC team in the quarter finals.
After a slow start, the team roared back to advance
to the semi-finals against rival West Pines. On very
cold morning the teams played to a tie thru
full-time. The KICKS prevailed in PK’s when Goal
Keeper Evan Zinger came up big stopping 2 of the 5
shots he faced. Playing their 6th game in 4 days the
finals was a test of endurance. Midway thru the
second half, Jeffrey Michaud broke a scoreless tie
with a powerful long range quick strike from 30
yards out just under the crossbar. Leonard
Jean-Jacques made the final 2-0 when he slotted a
shot into the left side netting beating the Bonita
Storm Goalie after being set-up by Paul Hurrell. The
KICKS showed tremendous balance with 9 different
players scoring goals in the tournament. KICKS
defender Troy Manheimer was named MVP of the Sun
Bowl. You can see the results of the Tampa Bay Sun
Bowl

KICKS
player Shawn Barry wins NCAA National Championship

Congratulations to
KICKS player
Shawn Barry and his University of Virginia Cavalier’s
team for winning the NCAA Division 1 National
Championship. After beating the #2 ranked and host
team, Wake Forrest in overtime of the Semifinals, the
Cavaliers faced off against #1 ranked and undefeated
Akron for the championship. Anchoring a Virginia
defense that gave up only one goal the entire
tournament, Shawn and the Cavaliers fought Akron to a
scoreless tie thru fulltime and overtime before
defeating the Zips 3-2 in penalty kicks. Shawn
narrowly missed scoring the winning goal on an
impressive counter-attack late in the second half.
With Akron attempting to clear their zone, Shawn
intercepted a pass near midfield and redirected a long
ball toward the upper corner of the Akron goal.
Seemingly headed for the right upper 90, the Akron
keeper tipped the shot over the bar at the last moment
keeping the game tied.
Shawn was captain the
KICKS U19 team
last season which were Finalists at FYSA State Cup and
reached a national ranking of #3. Congratulations
Shawn and the Virginia Cavaliers!
KICKS U16 Black
Win Plantation Thanksgiving Classic

The U16 Black won their preliminary
bracket going undefeated and took home the Championship
while competing against several teams ranked in the top
10 in the state. KICKS Black coasted into the finals
where they faced West Pines United, who barely pulled
off a 3-2 victory against KICKS Orange in earlier that
morning. KICKS Orange fell short of a final after
beating Weston but falling short to Strictly Soccer and
West Pines United. Well done both U16 KICKS teams!
KICKS
U14
Girls are Finalists at Disney

The U14 Girls competed in the Disney
Junior Soccer Showcase taking second place in their
division. The girls started the competition on Friday
afternoon beating Roswell Santos 1-0 from Atlanta and
then would go on later that night to beat FSA from
Florida 4-2. The next evening became very exciting as
the girls tied FC Boston Bolts 1-1 putting them into the
semi-final vs Solar FC from Texas. In a wet and cold
morning the girls battled to a 2-1 victory sending them
into the final vs Boston. The girls continued to show
determination and skill all weekend as they played to
the final whistle. Great job girls and GO
KICKS!
KICKS
teams show strong at Thanksgiving
tournaments
Congratulations to the Girls U14,
Boys U17 and both Boys U16’s for an outstanding weekend
at 2 prestigious tournaments.
The Girls U14 team participated in
Disney’s Junior Soccer Showcase featuring top teams from
all over the country. The girls competed in the
Copa bracket and went thru the preliminary round
undefeated. The
KICKS defeated a quality Solar
Texas team 2-1 in the semi-finals to earn a well
deserved trip to the finals against the Boston Bolts.
On the Boys side, both the U17 and
U16 Orange played well against highly rated teams and
finished second in their brackets.
KICKS
players impact USL Super Y
North American Finals
Several KICKS
players played major roles at the Super Y
Nationals. Michael Henderson, Max Wittig, and
Jeffrey Michaud contributed heavily to their teams
success over the 5 day event held in Tampa. Wittig
and Michaud logged heavy minutes guiding their team
to the semi-finals. Jeffrey Michaud was the top
scorer on his U15 squad. Michael Henderson tallied
2 goals in the championship match leading his U14
team to the title.

KICKS
Girl's Program Turns
Heads

The Palm Beach KICKS soccer club
is rapidly becoming the place to be, to live, and learn
the beautiful game.
With the tradition of attractive, skillful,
attacking minded football that has been a trademark of
the boys program, the girls are gaining a lot of
attention, as the Kicks Soccer Club is becoming the
standard for development and excellence in the North
area of Palm Beach County.
The girls’ program currently has two state cup
contention teams in the u14 and u16 age groups.
The girls have had great success in the Treasure
coast league, FLUGSA, and the Florida State League and
will represent the club at numerous high level
tournaments this year including the Disney Junior Soccer
Showcase in November, the Orange Classic International
Soccer tournament, the Weston Presidents Day Tournament
and the 33rd annual Seminole Memorial Day event on
Orlando.
The U9-U13 girls have been working very hard to master
the ball and will participate in the region cup this
spring. The
group has over 15 state ODP players who have their
sights set on a state championship and many in the
program are already dreaming of their career in the pro
leagues or top NCAA schools.
The program is under the Direction of Tim Miller
(Nationally Licensed and State ODP staff member) and his
staff of professional trainers.

Begin 2009/2010 Season Play :
Congratulations to the
KICKS
boys U16 - Orange team for opening the the 2009/10
season with a hard fought 2-1 victory against Island
Coast Soccer Club.
Phillipe Henao recorded his
first goal of the season in the 26th minute after
beating two defenders at the top of the 18 yard box to
draw a penalty. As the KICKS
struggled to find a rhythm in the second half AJ Delgado
was still able find Jonathan Borrayo with a 50 yard
through ball to put him in on a breakaway to give the
KICKS a 2 goal lead.
While the
KICKS
defense was able to keep the ICSC attack at bay most of
the game, ICSC was still able to find the back of the
net in the 70 minute. Both goal keeper Eric Mastromarino
and center back Leanord Gean-Jaques played an
outstanding game and had a big role to play in the
victory.

KICKS U19 Boys fall to Kendall in
State Cup Finals, still hold #3 National Ranking

After cruising through the first
round of State Cup, the KICKS U19 Boys found themselves
battling Kendall Soccer Coalition in the torrential
downpours of a south Florida summer with only 8 men
playing. After seeing 3 men were sent off, the KICKS did
not have enough to beat a full-sided Kendall team. We
wish Kendall the best of luck in Southern Regionals. To see their standings and for more information go to
